Take Your Child to Work Day 2004

Bureau of Public Affairs
Washington, DC
04/29/2004

On April 29, 2004, the State Department hosted "Take Your Child to Work Day" and welcomed children of employees to visit their parents' workplace and to learn about the world of work at the State Department. The children were sworn-in as "Honorary Employees for a Day" by a senior Department official and heard Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Marc Grossman, speak about valuable and diverse work of the State Department.

Many educational activities were held throughout the day and included: a tour of Capitol Hill; building a website; and a discussion on a recent flight into space and building the international space station by Dr. Lee Morin, Astronaut and NASA Mission Specialist.  The Bureau of Public Affairs sponsored several events, including a scavenger hunt of www.future.state.gov and news casts.
